Many different events are occurring around the world, and an extreme one is the Bangladesh flood. According to CNN 10, flood waters are chin high, and millions of people in the northeastern part of Bangladesh have been severely affected by the catastrophe. Businesses, farmland, and homes have been underwater after the violent rains, messing with people’s livelihood. Unfortunately, dozens of casualties have taken place due to the calamitous event.
Emergency crews are clambering around the heavily flooded communities to rescue the distressed citizens in them, including residents stranded on the roofs. In addition, army and navy personnel are putting forth their best efforts, along with volunteers, to cooperate as much as they can. Using small boats to traverse through the flooded cities and towns, they are able to take people to government buildings and schools, which are converted to shelters at this time.
Many Bangladeshis, livid and furious, are pointing fingers at India, a neighboring state to Bangladesh. A large number of them are students reporting about a forced flooding coming from a dam just across India and Bangladesh’s border. Indian officials are denying that the flooding was because of the forced opening of the dam, and are insisting that any water release was due to dam overflow. However, the officials did acknowledge that a power outage took place near the dam and thus communications issues occurred. Unfortunately, weather forecasts have predicted that there will be 2-6 more inches of rain, so the flood will not seem to go away for a while. Amongst all this chaos and politics, many hope that no more lives are lost and nations involved can come together to help them to rehabilitate and rebuild.
