Goodbye Teachers

As many Stratford Preparatory students know, two important teachers have left this school and ended their journey with Stratford. These two teachers are unfortunately Ms. Klycheva and Mrs. Deza.

Firstly, when asked about Mrs. Deza, many students that had her were sad about this event due to her nature of making learning fun and apply it to real-life situations. Mrs. Deza was a 7th and 8th grade science teacher, teaching 7A, 7B, 7C, 8C, and 8F. Ms. Menezes had been teaching the classes, but now a new teacher has been named, that being Mr. H. Mrs. Deza is now a 911 dispatcher.

Ms. Klycheva was a 7th and 8th grade math teacher, teaching two 7th grade Algebra cohorts (7B and 7GI), one 8th Algebra cohort (8BF), and two 8th grade Geometry cohorts (8H & 8I). Currently, these classes are being taught by other teachers in the math department, but a new teacher, Mr. Ozkan, will be taking over these classes. As a former student of Ms. Klycheva, I loved her belief and philosophy of teaching, which was that it does not matter about the grade, but that it matters if you put effort into your course and learn. She also advised the Math Club C team room to help people work together for many math tests in order to build an important team that knows its members and overall system. Luckily, her idea still stays since people have been suggesting to the math club to make a team competition for one of the practices and whichever team gets the highest score would double their high score points. This can help Stratford’s math team have high-level individual mathematicians but also a solid team that can handle working together. Ms. Klycheva’s goal at the end of the day was for people to experience the joy and curiosity of math, with its mysterious ways. She even told us that math is not meant as a competition but an art. With all that being said, we hope that whatever goal that these two teachers have next, they enjoy what they do. We hope that all students who have been affected by the changes smoothly transfer from one teacher to another this time and continue with their journeys through math and science. We hope that the teachers will know that we miss them and that no matter what, they will still be in our hearts.
