On Friday, March 14, the high school badminton team won against Basis Independent in an extremely close game. They won 13-12, tying the ten matches five to five, but winning three of the weighted games, allowing them to gain an extra point. Their first mixed doubles match was played by Jason Yang and Elizabeth Chien, who together secured a win for the team. Aarav Agarwal played in the singles match. He had a rocky start but made an excellent comeback after the eleven-point break, winning back-to-back points without giving his opponent a moment to rest! Both of the girls’ single players, Akshita Srivastava and Arya Jhawar, were amazing in their games, leaving their opponents in the dust. The game-winning match went to Joshua Huang and Emma Yu who together won their mixed doubles match in one set due to time constraints. Even with the pressure, they were able to overcome the nerves and secure a win for the team. Although some of the players weren’t able to play competitively due to the lack of teams from Basis, they were able to play scrimmages after the competition to test their skills. Overall, congrats to the badminton team for a great win and game!
