The Russian-Ukrainian war has expanded, as North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un sent
thousands of troops to support Putin’s army.
According to Reuters, North Korea is expanding a weapons-manufacturing complex
that makes missiles used by Russia in the war. The facility, known as the February 11
plant, is the only plant known to produce the native Korean Hwasong-11 missiles. Both
Russia and North Korea have denied North Korea’s weapon transfer.
South Korean national security advisor Shin Won-sik has stated that Russia has
provided North Korea with air defense missiles and military equipment in exchange for
sending thousands of troops to fight in the war. Over the course of the war, North
Korean-Russian ties have grown closer than ever. North Korean troops have been
deployed to the frontline and some have moved into the Russian-Ukrainian border.
Pentagon press security Sabrina Singh told reporters that 11,000 North Korean troops
have entered the border. The new ISW (Institute of War) has said that Russian troops
have advanced in. The US nervously awaits the arrival of North Korean
reinforcements.
