Last September, the leadership members of HOSA went on their first international trip to Washington D.C. for the first time this school year! Although this first trip wasn’t for a competition, the members who went were able to attend a conference exclusively for leadership students to make connections with other students from HOSA in the U.S. According to Ms. Chuang, the HOSA advisor for our school, one of the most memorable events for them was being able to “take pictures together at historical sites” such as the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. The members who went to represent our school’s HOSA club were even given an opportunity to be on the official HOSA’s Instagram attendance post.
One important thing to keep in mind, however, is that the trips that HOSA will go on will most likely remain specifically for members who have leadership roles, and the members who do decide to go will have to pay for their own flight and hotel expenses — the school will be organizing the events and food costs. Members are also required to wear the HOSA uniform, which can be seen in the photo during these trips.
If students are interested in joining HOSA and going on these fun adventures, they will need to take at least Healthcare 1 to apply as a regular member and will have to participate in an additional formal interview to assume a leadership position. If you are interested in healthcare, you should definitely consider joining this club because in this area, there are very few schools that have this club, so you should definitely take advantage of this chance and apply. We have a lot of resources and clubs for fields such as computer science but very few for health. The choice is of course yours, but according to Ms. Chuang, “HOSA is the best!”
