Pope Hospitalized!

Palaksi Pagare - Mar. 2025

The Pope is currently hospitalized with double pneumonia. On February 14, he was admitted into the hospital with bronchitis, a viral infection that causes inflammation in the airways of the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Soon enough he had pneumonia in both of his lungs, meaning that he had double pneumonia; pneumonia is an infection that inflames air sacs in at least one of the lungs. On the weekend of February 22, the Pope had an “asthma-like respiratory crisis”, the Pope needing oxygen. He also needed a blood transfusion because he was diagnosed to have blood with low platelets (which help blood clot). An article says that the Pope may be more vulnerable to any respiratory assaults because when he was younger, he had pneumonia, resulting in a part of his lung being taken out; this means that he has smaller respiratory reserves. Many people, especially in Rome and the Vatican, are praying for the Pope. In fact, a makeshift shrine has been made for him in front of Gemelli Hospital, where the Pope is currently staying. Despite all of the serious medical conditions the Pope has currently, with only slight improvements, he continues to work and keeps high spirits, showing that all hope is not lost yet.
