What is one spot on campus that you are guaranteed to find your favorite snacks? If you said the vending machines, then you are correct! There are two located in the gym and two located at the cafeteria. Many of us can agree that the vending machines prices are a little too high. Today, we will dive deeper into the advantages and disadvantages of these vending machines.
Let's start off with the advantages. First of all, the vending machines provide a variety of snacks. So, if you are craving something sweet or savory, the vending machines will probably have it. Also if you are hungry and have money, the vending machines are a great spot to get something to snack on before class starts. They are located at strategic spots. So if you just finished sports practice or club and are starving, you may be tempted to buy snacks.
As for the disadvantages, the prices of the items sold can be very expensive. For example, there is a soda called “Poppi” which is sold for three dollars at our vending machines. However, I can find “Poppi” at a generic grocery store for much cheaper. The next disadvantage is the nutritional value. Many of the snacks displayed are not very healthy. They are packed with preservatives and many other chemicals that may not be safe to consume. So, I highly suggest that the school replace some of the snacks in the vending machines with healthier alternatives. Finally, the vending machines can sometimes glitch. A couple of days ago, a sixth grade student received three of the same item for free. He put in two dollars for his snack and then received three of the same thing, and then got back the same two dollars he put in.
