On Saturday, October 5, students from Stratford Preparatory, each from their own
teams, displayed an impressive performance at the VEX IQ Robotics Competition
hosted by the Dublin Robotics Club. VEX IQ is a well-known robotics competition for
elementary and middle school students, challenging teams to design and build
robots capable of completing a specific task.
This year’s challenge involved passing balls between robots and shooting them into
goals. Multiple students in Stratford Preparatory were present, including Aanya Dua,
Anaya Jhaveri, Alan Meyers, and William Qu. These students competed on various
teams, such as "Gear Ducks" and "Shrimp Fried Rice."
The competition featured two main formats for scoring: alliance matches and skills
matches. In alliance matches, teams worked together to score points within one
minute. Skills matches allowed teams to demonstrate their robots' abilities in both
driver-controlled and autonomous modes.
While the competition was fierce, many teams showed impressive robot designs and
performance. More importantly, the students had a great time participating in the
event. As they continue work on their robotics skills, we wish them luck competing
in VEX IQ for the rest of the season!
